I don't understand the last stanza ending of the poem. What i honestly feel is that she knew the girl was getting married to a man that was rich so she felt she was united to serve silver. kind of somewhat possessed because She would never know how it feels to be free again.
I rose from marsh mud
I rose from Marsh Mud,
algae, equisetum, willows,
sweet green, noisy
birds and frogs
To see her wed in the rich
rich silence of the church,
the little white slave-girl
in her diamond fronds.
In aisle and arch
the satin secret collects.
United for life to serve
silver. Possessed.

Granite Pail Poem Opinion
Different Opinion Of Education
Gatto's Educational Thinking
I start to sometimes wonder if my mentality of thinking is my own judgment. Gatto's essay made people wonder and think about things. he made people wonder are schools really teaching you? do the teachers really want you to be puppets and follow the system. Gatto essay really inform us on things that we wouldn't think about. Like how public schools can be better or worst than private schools and why.
My Educational ideas
I started to wonder how his questions would play out but it seemed like to me he always made sense. Gatto teaches us to show expression because the school system doesn't want that. He feels like school is suppose to be full of freedom and all about teaching the students to become adults. I agree with him when he said having barred doors makes the students feel in prison. so "the democratic republic would be in great peril of becoming a police state". "Instead let us go back to teaching critical thought, civic duties (such as understanding the law and informed voting), and educated self-expression". he believes and still believe that school has "more opportunities than ever".

Gender Genda
"Culture Shapes Humanity
Quote:"Both males and females have standards based on their biological sex. Their gender role, or how they live a male or female role, determines their behavior, attitude, values, and beliefs. History plays a big part in a person's understanding and acceptance of gender roles".
"As the editors point out, "History shows us how completely our gender derives from cultural myths about what is proper for men and women to think, enjoy, and do (Colombo, Cullen, and Lisle 403). How a person fits that role to his or her personal identity is often the result of cultural beliefs".
"Our culture causes boys to be socialized into a position of dominance and causes girls to be more concerned about appearance. History's effect on our gender roles is why women are often in the more backstage, supportive roles ”the roles supportive of the more dominant roles men play".
I Used this as a quote because it really touched me in some kind of way on the topic of Genders. We all as humans judge people because of how they act and what there preferred genders are. They just want to be called normal. Rather its transgender or homosexuality it shouldn't matter at the end of the day
